Cucurbita moschata
.Ancient, Italian variety with beautifully curved fruits that are prepared young as courgettes and later as pumpkins.
The club-shaped fruits have a sweet-fruity-nutty flavour and are suitable for baking, frying, roasting, grilling, steaming, for salad, dip, for pasta, casserole, antipasti, cake or jam. The often circular pumpkins turn from green to green-yellow to a pale beige-brown. When ripe, the pumpkins keep for a long time even when cut and have a pleasant bite. The plants produce about 4-6 fruits of 2-4 kg. For harvesting, it is worth leaving two to three of them to ripen and using the other fruits young as courgette, so to speak.
